My final collection is an investigation on menopausal women and how as we age, especially through menopause and its symptoms, this affects how we dress. After looking into the topic, I discovered that menopause greatly affects how women need to dress in order to accommodate the symptoms. Furthermore, the clothing industry favours youthfulness and neglects the older market. greatly limiting the options available to older women.

I think there’s a misconstrued perception that as women, when we age we are expected to “cover-up and tone down”, focusing more on our inner self rather than being preoccupied with the surface display. This initiated my objective of challenging these stereotypes by creating a collection ideal for an older market, without having to compromise on fashionability or style. 

My time at Ara would not be the same without the amazing support and friendship of my fellow classmates who’ve gone through this journey with me for the last three years. In the future, I would love to move overseas and work within the design or construction/sampling area of a fashion company.
