Chromatics is a collection inspired by the theory of colour therapy and explores how wearing colour can impact our moods. Inspiration for this collection came from artist Mark Rothko, a painter whose dynamic use of colour combined with simplistic compositions often created intense emotional responses from his audience. Minimalist silhouette choices of these garments will prevent the wearer or viewer from becoming visually distracted and allow the deliberate colour choices of each look to be emotionally impactful.

The choice to do a full menswear collection came from the observation that the market was oversaturated with navy, black and grey clothing options for men and very few colourful options. Having never designed menswear before, it has been an interesting learning experience gaining insight into the clothing habits of men as well as researching colour therapy. My hope for this collection is to spark conversation around men’s mental wellbeing and create some colourful and uplifting pieces.
